Our contribution

CROWN PLAYSAFE

Crown is committed to providing a safe, accountable, and enjoyable gambling experience at each Resort, engaging internally and externally to achieve socially responsible outcomes.

Crown recognises that in delivering its Crown PlaySafe programs and services, it does so as a shared responsibility as part of the gaming industry, with government, communities, and individuals, all working in partnership. A testament to Crown’s commitment is the consideration of safer play issues at the highest level, through the Crown PlaySafe Committee of the Crown Resorts Board. This Committee is dedicated to overseeing Crown PlaySafe initiatives and recommending policies and procedures to enhance the effectiveness of those programs.

In a world first responsible gaming initiative, in 2002 Crown Melbourne implemented an onsite support facility for customers seeking assistance with their gaming behaviours, the ‘Responsible Gaming Support Centre’, with Crown Perth opening the ‘Responsible Gambling Information Centre’ in 2009. In 2023, in an evolution to our approach to ‘responsible gambling’, Crown Melbourne officially opened its new ‘Crown PlaySafe Centre’ and rolled out a new Crown PlaySafe identity as part of expanded gambling reforms being implemented across its Australian Resorts.

Crown PlaySafe Centres are open 24-hours a day in all three of its Australian Resorts and provide a range of services for all guests that are designed to keep gambling fun and minimise gambling harms. This includes information, tips and tools to help keep gambling safer and an enjoyable experience. Staffed by a dedicated and professional team within each Resort, Crown PlaySafe Centres also provide confidential support, programs and referrals to those concerned with their own or someone else’s gambling.

The Crown PlaySafe culture is embedded throughout Crown at each Resort. This is achieved through extensive employee training in the responsible service of gaming, using a blend of delivery mechanisms and refresher training.

Customers and employees benefit from continuous Crown PlaySafe awareness campaigns about Crown PlaySafe products and services, and the Crown PlaySafe Code of Conduct. Multiple communication channels are used throughout each Resort to ensure important information reaches a wide audience, and all three of our Resorts participate annually in the statewide awareness week initiative.

Crown develops and maintains strong engagement with many stakeholders, and each Crown Resort engages with gambling help service providers and other welfare organisations in their respective states. Mindful of developments and initiatives in social safeguards nationally and internationally, Crown actively engages with committees, working groups, conferences and think tanks. This engagement provides the opportunity to exchange information and ideas and, through more formal conference presentations and panel memberships, Crown shares advances in its own programs and services.
